Former Jetstar Asia marketing lead Chantal van Wijnbergen jets on to new role

Former Jetstar Southeast Asia head of marketing and PR Chantal van Wijnbergen has joined JetBlue Airways as director of brand and advertising. Wijnbergen will be leading the brand and handling all the marketing activities for JetBlue, according to her LinkedIn.

At the start of 2018, a Jetstar spokesperson confirmed to Marketing that Wijnbergen and her family were relocating to New York upon her departure from Jetstar Southeast Asia. Prior to the move, Wijnbergen had been with the company for over five years, taking on responsibility for all marketing and PR for Jetstar Group across SEA.

Together with the marketing team, she developed the Jetstar Southeast Asia’s brand positioning, and was responsible for marketing, content and communication strategy. This resulted in the brand’s “Because You Can” brand campaign which was launched in 2015, and also Jetstar’s first SEA campaign.

Prior to this, Wijnbergen helmed the role as regional brand development manager for Clear Haircare, Southeast Asia Australia for 11 months. Previously she was the category manager of fresh fish and poultry for Dutch retailer Ahold Delhaize, in which she began as senior marketing manager back in 2006.

Wijnbergen started her full-time career with J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam (JWT) in 2000 as a junior strategy planner and stayed with the company for close to six years. Wijnbergen handled clients such as Unilever, Kraft, Nestle and many others in her time with JWT. Prior to this, she had an internship with BBDO Worldwide in 1998 for six months.

Marketing has reached out to JetBlue Airways for comment.
