Ebiquity names new group CEO as Nick Waters steps down

Ebiquity has promoted its chief strategy officer Ruben Schreurs (pictured right) to the new group CEO, effective immediately. He succeeds Nick Waters (pictured left), who will be leaving to join the digital acceleration company, Making Science.

Schreurs first joined Ebiquity in 2020, when the consultancy firm acquired his own agency Digital Decisions. He had helmed various senior positions over the past four years, including chief product officer and chief strategy officer.

In recent years, Ebiquity has transitioned from providing individual solutions to delivering continuous services that cover media management, auditing, and technology. However, this transformation has not resulted in a proportionate revenue increase. Instead, revenue declined by 6.7% in the first half of the year compared to the previous year, a decrease attributed by the company to reduced budgets from its major clients.

Schreurs described the new role as "a dream come true", and expressed his gratitude to Waters, who is departing after four years with the firm.

Waters will be joining Making Science in February 2025, responsible for driving the company’s growth and expansion across Europe.

Waters brings over 20 years of experience in international media, digital, and advertising. He joins Making Science from Ebiquity, where he was group CEO. Before that, he spent 10 years at Dentsu Aegis Network – latterly as Executive Chairman UK & Ireland, and 12 years at Mindshare, rising to regional CEO of Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Waters said: "Ebiquity has made tremendous progress thanks to the hard work of so many people. The company has an expanded and enhanced suite of products and services, exciting innovation, market leading automation, massive lakes of media transaction data, an operating model designed for scalable growth, and an incredible client roster."

"The business is well positioned for its next phase of growth, and this is a good time to pass the leadership to Schreurs as the new CEO," he added.
