Dominic Chew takes CMO role at CGS-CIMB

CGS-CIMB, a joint venture between China Galaxy International Financial and CIMB Group, has appointed Dominic Chew (pictured) as its regional CMO. Chew's remit will cover brand strategy and development, marketing communications, digital and social engagements, and corporate communications across major markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Chew will report to Carol Fong, group CEO. 

Chew has handled both marketing and agency side roles. He has experience in brand strategy across diverse industries such as finance, telco and tourism. Chew was also one of MARKETING-INTERACTIVE's judges for PR Awards 2022.

Prior to joining CGS-CIMB, Chew helmed the role of SVP, head of marketing and communication at Frasers Property, where he was tasked to brand its largest development, One Bangkok, an integrated district comprising five hotels, five office towers, three luxury residences and over 500 retail shops in the Lumphini central business district. During his time with Frasers, he also developed a campaign to put One Bangkok onto the global map for green initiatives and developed a Board endorsed international brand strategy within his first three months there. He was with Frasers for almost two years.

Before joining Frasers, he was with CFLD International for over a year as CMO. He led international marketing efforts of the company outside of China and worked with multiple country heads in marketing and business development for land acquisition and capital partnerships, while controlling global marketing budget to achieve each country’s priority. Chew saw his team through two successful new market entries into Jakarta and Vietnam, journeying from its first international sale to becoming the top seller of luxury residential in both countries within a year and a half. He also worked at Singapore Tourism Board and Singtel. According to his LinkedIn, Chew also founded Hatch Idea Lab in 2009, which built on innovation blueprints through consultancy and training to create brand desirability and business innovation to organisations. Some of Hatch Idea Lab's clients include Singapore University of Technology and Design and Singapore Institute of Technology.

Meanwhile, CGS-CIMB is a 75-25 joint venture between China Galaxy International Financial and CIMB Group. It has a presence in over 20 countries and prides itself on being a “customer-centric firm” with a focus on value creation for clients, offering a suite of investment and financial solutions for retail and institutional clients. Its businesses include retail broking, institutional equities, derivatives, prime services, equities research, wealth management and online broking.
