Dentsu Creative has appointed Cheuk Chiang as Asia Pacific CEO, shortly after the new global creative network was formed in June. Chiang joined dentsu in 2019 as CEO, Greater North, Asia Pacific, and chairman, dentsu China, and will continue to oversee these markets in his expanded role.

The agency describes him as a "highly experienced creative leader" who is "passionate about the value of creativity and how it transforms brands and businesses". "Coupled with his deep understanding of key markets and the broader region as a member of the dentsu Asia Pacific executive team, Chiang has a strong platform for growth," dentsu said.

His appointment also comes at a time when dentsu International is heavily investing in its creative reputation and accelerating its creative footprint to be a future-ready creative partner for brands globally.

"The way consumers interact with brands is far more sophisticated than it used to be. In this complex environment, every marketer wants their brand to communicate consistently; to speak with one voice across all consumer touchpoints and experiences. The challenge they face is finding a simple integrated solution that embraces the full richness of the modern marketing landscape," Chiang said.

He added that Dentsu Creative is perfectly positioned to deliver on this need through modern creativity and seamless integration across the dentsu network. "I look forward to working closely with the teams in how we can shape the future of creativity of our business," he added.

Meanwhile, Fred Levron, CCO at dentsu International, said the team has set a bold ambition for themselves - owning Horizontal Creativity.

"To be able to deliver on this promise we need not only a new generation of creatives, but also business leaders. Individuals who are obsessed by creative excellence, and have the unique experience necessary to accelerate creativity through media and tech. Chiang is exactly this," he said. According to Levron, Asia Pacific is a key region for Dentsu Creative and he is excited to have Chiang by his side to reinvent the way the team builds brands and businesses in the region.

Chiang has spent half of his 29-year career at creative, data and tech agencies. Before dentsu, he was with Omnicom Media Group and PHD as Asia Pacific CEO respectively. He also helmed the role of MD at Cummins & Partners.

Dentsu Creative unites its creative agencies including DentsuMB, 360i and Isobar, and expands the agency's entertainment, earned attention and experience capabilities. Led by Levron, Dentsu Creative comprises 9,000 individuals in 46 markets connected to 37,000 media and CXM experts and will collaborate closely with the creative team in Japan. Dentsu Creative is said to blend dentsu’s Japanese heritage and craft with its experience of building brands in the modern media landscape.

More recently within dentsu International, the agency named Robert Gilby its Asia Pacific CEO, effective 5 September. He is responsible for unifying the region's 11,600 employees in 18 markets around dentsu’s global ambition to be the most integrated network in ad land. He has over 30 years' experience in the media and entertainment industry and helmed roles at WarnerMedia and The Walt Disney Company. Gilby also worked in Asia Pacific for more than 25 years.
