The executive VP of Dentsu Group and executive chairman and CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN), Tim Andree, is taking a leave of absence. This is due to health-related reasons, according to a press release by DAN.

The press release added that Toshihiro Yamamoto, representative director, president and CEO, Dentsu Group, will be taking on the additional role of acting executive chairman and CEO of DAN with immediate effect. Yamamoto will be supported by executive senior advisor of Dentsu Group Valerie Scoular, CFO of DAN and executive officer of Dentsu Group Nick Priday, and executive officer of Dentsu Group Takaki Hibino, as they take on a combined advisory role. All four will be working together with the Dentsu Aegis executive team.

Andree was appointed in 2018, succeeding Jerry Buhlmann who stepped down as CEO of DAN at the end of 2018. Under Andree's leadership, Dentsu’s global operations grew organically and through acquisitions such as mcgarrybowen, 360i and Firstborn, among others.

Yamamoto said he encourages Andree to "take the time he needs to return to full health", citing that matters of health are the most important. He added that Andree is a "trusted long-term leader within the Dentsu family", and "has the full and ongoing support of the Dentsu Board".

“DAN remains a strong business with a highly professional and dedicated executive leadership team who will continue to drive focus and delivery across our business, and for our people and our clients," Yamamoto said.
