Cathay and HK Disneyland ink deal to enhance in-bound tourism offerings

Cathay and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) have inked deal to promote Hong Kong as a top travel destination by combining exceptional flight experiences with magical theme park adventures.

The planned collaboration aims to unlock synergy opportunities, stimulate inbound tourism, and reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a premier global travel destination and regional transit hub.

As part of the collaboration, Cathay and HKDL will explore opportunities for continued collaboration, including a product for travellers transiting in Hong Kong that is targeted to be launched in 2026.

Looking ahead, Cathay and HKDL will continue to explore new opportunities for cooperation, with the shared goal of delivering even more memorable travel experiences.

Ronald Lam, chief executive officer, Cathay Group, said: "At Cathay, our purpose is to move people forward in life, so we are thrilled to collaborate with Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, a brand that shares our passion for delivering memorable experiences that delight and inspire. By combining world-class air travel with Disney experiences, we will create unforgettable journeys that celebrate the very best of Hong Kong. Together, we aim to inspire travellers from around the world to come to our home city and experience all that it has to offer."

Michael Moriarty, managing director, HKDL, said: "As we mark Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th anniversary, this strategic collaboration with Cathay exemplifies our shared commitment to elevating Hong Kong’s global tourism appeal. Together, we aim to drive inbound visitation and solidify Hong Kong’s position as a world-class tourism and transit hub. We look forward to enchanting more tourists with immersive, experiential experiences that reflect the evolving aspirations of today’s travellers," he added.

This is not the first partnership the park has leveraged to boost local tourism. Back in August 2024, HKDL entered a multi-year alliance with Rituals Cosmetics , a global luxury brand dedicated to personal wellbeing. With this resort alliance, HKDL is set to introduce Rituals’ three distinct product lines of bath and body care amenities to the resort’s three hotels, allowing hotel guests to enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences at each hotel.

Under the partnership, HKDL will continue to surprise and delight guests with new and improved offerings and experiences, while Rituals encourages consumers to embrace a lifestyle that transforms everyday routines into more meaningful moments. Together, these two international brands aspire to create happiness at every touchpoint of a guest’s visit.

On a separate note, HKDL recently launched a year-long region-wide campaign titled “The most magical party of all” to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Available across Asia, the campaign includes themed trains in the city and Taipei, immersive display in Wuhan and a meet-and-greet event in the Philippines.

The celebration kicked off on 21 June, when Ngong Ping 360 launched 11 themed cable cars, each inspired by beloved Disney friends and their stories, as a teaser for everyone to get to know more about the 11 floats in HKDL’s largest-ever parade “Friendtastic!". Furthermore, HKDL has also teamed up with brands such as Chow Tai Fook, Kee Wah, and FUJIFILM to release limited-edition merchandises, including gold coins, celebratory snacks, and themed cameras.
