Café de Coral Group is distributing 18,000 soft meal vouchers to elderly individuals and those with chewing or swallowing difficulties across Hong Kong, as part of the second phase of its “Bon Appétit Café” programme.

First launched in 2022, the initiative leverages the Group’s culinary expertise and extensive outlet network to provide continuous and accessible food support to vulnerable communities.

For the 2025/26 cycle, the programme will deliver food aid valued at approximately HK$3.2 million. The first phase, launched late last year, supported residents affected by a fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. The current phase focuses specifically on the needs of the elderly and individuals with swallowing difficulties, with a total of 18,000 soft meals to be distributed to promote inclusive dining.

Each voucher can be redeemed for one soft gourmet meal during the validity period. Options include “Taste Joy” soft gourmet at 64 designated Café de Coral outlets, or Shanghainese soft gourmet at seven designated Shanghai Lao Lao locations.

In addition, nearly 2,000 soft Longevity Peach Buns, Pineapple Buns, and Xiaolongbao were distributed to beneficiaries from three partner organisations—Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC), Hong Kong Society for the Aged (SAGE), and Christian Family Service Centre (CFSC)—spreading festive joy during the Lantern Festival.

Piony Leung, CEO of Café de Coral Group, said, “Café de Coral has been rooted in Hong Kong for over 50 years with the mission to serve as ‘Hongkonger’s canteen’, committed to meeting the diverse dining needs of the community. Through ‘Bon Appétit Café’, we hope to deliver warmth and comfort to those in need."

"We are grateful to NAAC, SAGE and CFSC for their support, allowing this year’s programme to reach deeply into the community. Seeing the joyful smiles of the elderly enjoying soft gourmet reminded us of the power of food to comfort and connect. We will continue giving back to the community with love and dedication," she added.

Back in 2024, Café de Coral unveiled a new brand “Taste Joy” soft gourmet, offering specially designed meals for those with chewing and swallowing difficulties.

Embodying the notion of “Savour the memories, taste the happiness”, the brand’s products are crafted professionally to meet the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) and Guideline of Care Food Standard.

These include two classic flavours, "Peking Style Pork Ribs" and "Soy Sauce Chicken Leg", each provides options for IDDSI Level 4 and Level 6 to cater to different chewing and swallowing needs. Dine-in service is also available, allowing individuals with chewing and swallowing difficulties to enjoy eating out with their families.
