Astro Malaysia Holdings has expanded its collaboration with Disney+ to bring global hits and Malaysian stories closer together. Under the updated agreement, a wider selection of Disney+ movies, series, and original programming will be accessible via Astro's main services, including Astro TV, Astro GO, and NJOI. Concurrently, Disney+ will add a curated selection of Astro's locally produced Malaysian content to its streaming library.
The agreement broadens the international library available to Astro subscribers, introducing titles from brands such as Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Hulu. This includes films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredible Hulk, and Brave, alongside television series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and New Girl.
Concurrently, Disney+ will feature Astro’s Malaysian titles across multiple genres, including the films Polis Evo 1 & 2, Ola Bola, and Zombi Kampung Pisang, dramas such as Takdir Itu Milik Aku, and popular programs such as Travelawak: Projek Bapak Bapak and the animated series Didi & Friends.
For consumers, Astro is offering Disney+ as an add-on option starting at RM18.30 per month. The service is also integrated directly into select existing tiers, meaning subscribers of the Movies Pack and the Astro One Epic Pack receive access to the streaming platform at no additional fee.
Agnes Rozario, chief content officer, Astro, said, “We’re delighted to deepen our relationship with Disney+ as we continue to evolve with changing viewing habits and deliver a more seamless, cross-platform experience. This expanded collaboration brings together Disney+’s globally celebrated stories and Astro’s meaningful local content, creating new opportunities for Malaysian stories such as Didi & Friends, Polis Evo and Travelawak: Projek Bapak Bapak and other Astro original productions to sit alongside Disney’s iconic global entertainment catalogue on Disney+."
"Ultimately, it offers greater choice, convenience and enjoyment for our customers, making it easier than ever to access the best of global and local storytelling in one connected ecosystem," Rozario added.
Mark Chan, vice president and managing director for Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, The Walt Disney Company, said, “At Disney, storytelling has always been at the heart of what we do. Through this collaboration with Astro, we are excited to bring our globally loved stories to even more audiences in Malaysia, while also amplifying the richness of local voices on Disney+. It’s about offering viewers new opportunities to discover compelling storytelling—whether they’re from around the world or right at home."

The expanded partnership comes as Astro navigates a challenging economic environment. The media company began fiscal year 2027 with what it characterized as a resilient performance, driven by stable engagement with local programming and continuous streaming growth.
However, the broadcaster continues to face pressure from declining subscription revenue, softer advertising spend, and changing consumer spending habits. For the first quarter ended 30 April 2026, Astro recorded revenue of RM659.6 million, representing a 6.2% decline year-on-year, reflecting lower contributions across its core segments of subscriptions, advertising, film, and production services.
