Appnovation picks former Hootsuite CMO to handle global marketing

Digital consultancy Appnovation has appointed Penny Wilson (pictured) as CMO to lead its global leadership team. In this newly created role, Wilson is responsible for leading Appnovation’s global marketing strategy, according to agency, as it is planning to grow its geographical footprint and service offerings, adding that the position was created to harness the full capabilities of the business to drive brand, demand and customer growth.

Wilson boasts over 30 years of experience in marketing and executive leadership roles in the global technology industry. She joins Appnovation from Hootsuite where she was CMO for over four years, leading the social media software brand’s corporate, product marketing, sales development, online growth and customer support. Her previous roles include CMO at Juniper Networks, CMO at Macromedia and senior executive positions at Alias|Wavefront and Merrill Lynch.

Reporting to Appnovation's CEO and founder Arnold Leung, Wilson said, “Appnovation has global scale, industry leading customers and talented teams producing work. I am thrilled to be joining this dynamic leadership team and excited for the possibilities for the future of our brand."

Appnovation has been expanding lately. This year, it opened two offices in Brazil and Singapore, while Leung moved back to Hong Kong to help further expand the company's business in APAC. The expansion to Singapore was to strengthen its presence across APAC and enhance its digital capabilities.

According to Appnovation, the move addresses the growing demand in APAC for strategic and innovative digital solutions. Moreover, Singapore’s status as a centre for digital and innovation made it an ideal setting for Appnovation’s expansion.
