Tech and solutions developer AnyMind Group has announced the acquisition of cross-border marketing firm ENGAWA from Japanese PR and communications company SUNNY SIDE UP Group.

The move marks the seventh acquisition or investment in a company in just five years for AnyMind Group, who has recently moved further toward the direct-to-consumer space, offering cloud manufacturing, e-commerce and logistics for individuals and businesses.

AnyMind Group's goals for acquiring ENGAWA are two-fold: first, to tap into the firm's expertise and network of Japanese manufacturers and Japanese goods; and second, AnyMind Group aims to connect its direct-to-consumer and marketing platforms to ENGAWA's existing customer base.

ENGAWA also owns Tokyo Weekender, Japan's longest-running English lifestyle publication.

"Consumers today expect businesses to have more digital touchpoints, whether it is interacting with a brand or buying products. As such, businesses need to quickly transform to fit the needs of modern consumers. The acquisition of ENGAWA takes us a step closer to creating the business infrastructure for next-generation businesses, ultimately enabling us to fulfill our mission of making every business borderless," said Kosuke Sogo, CEO and co-founder of AnyMind Group.

"By providing AnyMind Group's superior technology and offerings to local governments and regional clients together with ENGAWA's strong marketing know-how, we will look to create a new infrastructure for businesses in Japan and the region," added Takanobu Ushiyama, CEO and founder of ENGAWA.
