Former Star Media Group CEO Andreas Vogiatzakis (pictured) has joined the board of advisors for cloud consultancy The Scale Factory (TSF) to strengthen the company’s footprint in the Malaysian market. He will also widen its capabilities through offering tailored executive coaching and training geared towards the challenges unique to fast-growing start-ups.

Vogiatzakis was the first-ever non-Malaysian group CEO appointed to helm Star Media Group Malaysia. After leaving the media organisation last May, Vogiatzakis founded his own advisory firm, AMVplus Advisory, focusing on consulting, coaching and training. As executive director, Vogiatzakis offers programmes in areas such as leadership, brand building, business growth, digital transformation, marketing and leadership for Millennials.

In a previous interview with A+M, Vogiatzakis said that businesses need advice, executive coaching and training as organisations, especially so in the current pandemic, as leaders learn to recalibrate, pick up new skills, and equip employees with the necessary tools to succeed in the new paradigm and the new world.

Before joining Star Media Group and founding AMVplus Advisory, Vogiatzakis worked across numerous media agencies in Asia, namely as CEO of Havas Media Group for three years and CEO of Omnicom Media Group for almost a decade. Before moving to Malaysia, he had also served in Starcom Mediavest in Japan and Mindshare Taiwan.

Lars Bjoerge, co-founder and managing partner of The Scale Factory, said that Vogiatzakis has “deep capabilities and prominent talents”, as expected of a leader in the media industry for the last two decades. “More importantly, he’s a true humanist that believes in the value of unlocking human potential. That gels well with us and our mission of supporting the next wave of growth companies in the region,” added Bjoerge.

Vogiatzakis said he was impressed by The Scale Factory’s journey and felt it was a privilege to join the advisory board. “As AMVplus pledges to give its absolute best, add value, be meaningful, nurture and develop talent and enrich organizations, this opportunity of joining the advisory board of The Scale Factory is simply a perfect way for me to be further enabled to carry out my mission and assist The Scale Factory’s current and future clients,” Vogiatzakis added

According to Bjorge, Southeast Asia is one of the focus regions for scale-ups in building their growth footprint. With a rapidly digitising population and a fast-growing digital ecosystem driven by 12 home-grown unicorns and over US$10 billion in annual venture capital investments, he sees the rising trends of the increased prioritisation of Southeast Asia from European and US tech companies as well as a flourishing local tech scene. Bjorge said this trend will create companies eager to accelerate intra-Asian growth and beyond.
