YouTube Ads Awards Malaysia celebrates the best creatives in 2016

The YouTube Ads Awards Malaysia celebrated and honored 2016’s most outstanding ad creatives on Malaysia’s most popular video platform that make it a daily destination for entertainment, information and education.Presented by YouTube Malaysia, this first ever award of its kind honored the brands and agencies, as well as the creators, whose creative works expand beyond marketing to capture the hearts and minds of viewers through creative execution and compelling storytelling.YouTube Malaysia Ads Awards is supported by the Malaysian Advertising Association (MAA) and Advertising + Marketing Magazine, the official content partner.“The first YouTube Ads Awards Malaysia has celebrated some truly remarkable work which the world’s most influential video and social platform has ever seen,” said Sajith Sivanandan, managing director for Google Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and New Emerging Markets.“YouTube has always welcomed new and experimental creative works as it continues to be the top platform for content creators and brands to flourish,” Sivanandan added.The biggest winner of the night was Maxis who brought home the Ad of the Year award for its entry ‘The Last Kite Maker,’ which also won the awards for Best Tech / Telco Ad, Best Storytelling and Best Long Form Ad.‘The Last Kite Maker’ tells the compelling story of Pak Shafie, who dreams of experiencing flight through the traditional kites he has been making for the last half century. It charmed everyone on the judging panel with its heartwarming story and message, setting a very high standard for quality and creative advertising on the video platform.The four competition judges are industry luminaries: Ahmad Izham Omar, chief executive officer of Primeworks Studios; Chan Woei Hern, executive creative director at ensemble IPG Mediabrands; Eugene Chan, head of communications and marketing services of Nestle Malaysia; and Melati Abdul Hai, senior director of marketing and communications at McDonald’s Malaysia.In addition to Maxis, five other brands and agencies were honored at the awards ceremony. Bank Simpanan Nasional’s ‘Janji Papa’ took home the award for Best Finance Ad, 11street’s ‘Whatever It Takes’ won Best Retail Ad, and F&N’s ‘Warnai Dunia’ won Best Consumer Goods Ad.
