Yoodo beefs up brand building with new lead

Yoodo has appointed Jan Lee as brand lead reporting to head of Yoodo Chow Tuck Mun. She now leads the creative development of Yoodo’s main brand initiatives, as well as developing marketing programs and campaigns to increase awareness. A+M understands that her role focuses primarily on brand development and identity and she is not fully replacing Azwin Andy, head, brand, products and CEX, who left last month

Over the years, Yoodo has built its presence in the esports scene and with Lee on board, she now plans to further expand the brand presence in the modern consumer and youth segments while driving more brand initiatives that solidify Yoodo’s brand DNA - cheeky, bold and dynamic. Yoodo's efforts in the esports scene have paid off, as the brand clinched the gold award for Most Creative – eSports Marketing at A+M's MARKies Awards Malaysia 2021.

She was most recently with 4 Thirteen Group as lead strategist and account manager and spent at least six years with the agency. In that role, she worked closely with clients including Yoodo, Panasonic Malaysia and Asia Pacific, Allianz Malaysia, and Rohto Mentholatum, her LinkedIn said. She had worked alongside the Yoodo team as the agency lead from the early conceptual days of Yoodo in 2017, until March 2022.

Her key roles included driving the strategic initiatives of the agency, managing a team of creatives and strategists, and leading the planning, developing and delivery of strategic and creative marketing campaigns for a variety of clients. Lee also bagged the gold award for Rising Star at A+M's Agency of the Year Awards 2021.

Separately, Andy told A+M previously that he is very fortunate and thankful to have gotten involved with Yoodo as he was able to experience "building something out of nothing and grow with a team".

"Being the youngest telco, I’m also extremely proud that we’ve won various brand marketing awards and that we’ve managed to make a significant mark in the esports arena. I’ll definitely be watching Yoodo closely and hope to see it grow further," he added. Andy was with the mobile virtual network operator for five years, overseeing the end-to-end brand planning, creative direction, campaign deliverables, and media buys, his LinkedIn said.
