Yoodo brand and product lead Azwin Andy steps down

Yoodo's Azwin Andy has left his role as The Marketing Guy (head, brand, product and CEX). Andy (pictured) told A+M that he is very fortunate and thankful to have gotten involved with Yoodo as he was able to experience "building something out of nothing and grow with a team".

"Being the youngest telco, I’m also extremely proud that we’ve won various brand marketing awards and that we’ve managed to make a significant mark in the esports arena. I’ll definitely be watching Yoodo closely and hope to see it grow further," he added. Yoodo declined to comment on his replacement.

Andy was with the mobile virtual network operator for five years, overseeing the end-to-end brand planning, creative direction, campaign deliverables, and media buys, his LinkedIn said. He also managed the end-to-end development of products, promotions, and services in a timely and efficient manner. In total, Andy spent seven years at Celcom Axiata, joining in 2015 as brand manager, OTT (music). He also worked in product marketing and strategy at YTL Communications.

Separately, Yoodo has been doubling down on its esports efforts and just last year, it tied up with Sweden-based esports organisation Alliance to form Yoodo Alliance, a new PUBG Mobile esports team. Head of Yoodo, Chow Tuck Mun, told A+M previously that the partnership marked the first time Alliance entered the esports market in Malaysia and Yoodo plans to use this tie-up to further strengthen and boost its local talents to establish Malaysia's name in the global esports scene.

This wasn't Yoodo's first foray into the esports scene. It tied up with Wulf Esports in 2018 to form the PUBG Mobile esports team Yoodo Gank which participated in more than 20 tournaments and even clinched a victory at the PUBG Mobile Pro League Southeast Asia 2020
