Water services provider Air Selangor has unveiled a seven-minute Chinese New Year film that places love, sacrifice and resilience at the centre of its festive storytelling.

Titled "Love Never Forgets" or "Kasih Tidak Pernah Lupa", the short film follows Mei, a devoted wife caring for her husband Lim, who is living with dementia. Set against the familiar bustle of Chinese New Year preparations, the story reflects the emotional and mental challenges faced by caregivers, while underscoring the importance of support from family, friends and the wider community.

As Lim’s memory begins to fade, Mei navigates moments of confusion, frustration and tenderness, balancing her caregiving responsibilities with the traditions and expectations of the festive season. Through quiet, everyday interactions, the film sheds light on the often unseen sacrifices made by caregivers, particularly during times that are meant to be joyful and celebratory.

Beyond spotlighting the burden Mei carries as a caregiver, the film also brings attention to Lim’s struggle as he lives with dementia, capturing the confusion he faces whenever his memory falters. At the same time, the story follows the couple as they navigate life without their adult child by their side, highlighting their quiet longing and constant hope for a reunion with their son who lives overseas.

The film features a familiar cast from the local entertainment industry, with Louisa Chong starring as Mei and Goh Kee Kuang portraying Lim. They are joined by Khatijah Tan as Salmah and Sukania Venugopal as Rani.

According to Muhamad Asyraf Ahmad Suhaibi, head of brand management at Air Selangor, "Love Never Forgets" was created to encourage greater empathy and understanding around mental health challenges. He said the film highlights the need for emotional support, not only for individuals facing memory loss, but also for the caregivers and families who walk alongside them.

He added that the film is part of Air Selangor’s 2026 festive storytelling series under the theme “Love flows like water”, which will continue through upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali celebrations. The campaign also builds on the brand’s ongoing advocacy for mental health awareness, which has been a focus over the past two years.

As part of this commitment, Air Selangor continues its “Sembang kalau bimbang” (have a chat if you're worried) initiative in collaboration with the Mental Illness Awareness and Support Association Malaysia (MIASA), an effort that is consistently woven into its festive narratives to encourage open conversations around mental wellbeing.

Beyond its focus on caregiving and dementia, "Love Never Forgets" also reflects the spirit of Chinese New Year as a time of renewal, hope and family unity. By grounding the story in love and togetherness, the film serves as a reminder that compassion and patience remain at the heart of the season. The film is now available for viewing on Air Selangor’s Hydro Hub website, as well as across its official Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels.

This festive CNY period has seen a slew of heartwarming and creative campaigns. Mineral water brand Spritzer is ushering in Chinese New Year 2026 with a campaign that blends heartfelt storytelling, immersive on-ground experiences and a clear focus on healthier festive choices. Its campaign, "Unstoppable love" (马不停情), centres on a festive film that explores timeless family bonds, love and acceptance, while reinforcing Spritzer’s positioning as a natural, healthier hydration option during the festive season. The initiative comes as Malaysians become increasingly mindful of sugar intake and overall well-being during celebrations.

Meanwhile, RHB has launched its latest Chinese New Year campaign, "Dignity", placing the spotlight not on prosperity or abundance, but on self-worth, purpose and the quiet strength that allows people to rise, regardless of where they begin. The film follows the journeys of women rebuilding their lives through craftsmanship. The narrative captures moments of uncertainty, perseverance and renewal, while underscoring a central truth that while circumstances may change where you stand, they can never define who you are.
