Following a global review, MasterCard has chosen Weber Shandwick as its PR agency in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. The decision was made following a competitive review of Weber Shandwick’s Asia-Pacific operations.
It is understood that the account is one of Weber Shandwick’s largest in the region. MasterCard has had a relationship with the agency for more than 15 years with internal reviews constantly being conducted.
Georgette Tan, MasterCard Asia-Pacific VP of communications told Marketing that the review has not happened “in a while” and helped in showcasing the agencies’ new thinking and capabilities.
She added that the agency will be supporting MasterCard across “multiple levels” and the team demonstrated a depth of knowledge of the region and “innovative thinking, commitment and passion.”
Earlier in the year, the MasterCard’s US office assigned PR duties to Ketchum.
Recently MasterCard rolled out another campaign as a part of its global “Priceless Cities” programme, choosing Singapore as the launch market for the Southeast Asia campaign.
