We Are Social nabs new head of creative services and studio operations

Global socially-led creative agency We Are Social has named Katherine Lian (pictured) as its new head of creative services and studio operations, according to Lian when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out. 

In her new remit, Lian will lead resource planning and talent operations for the agency. This includes designing workflows and processes to effectively curate the best talent from its talent pool across all projects. This will enable We Are Social Singapore to deliver the most creative and innovative solutions to its clients while fostering business and talent growth, she said.

Prior to joining We are Social, Lian spend just under seven years at R/GA. She joined in 2017 as associate director of resource management and then climbed the ladder to become director of talent operations and talent management in 2020. In 2022, she was promoted to executive director of talent operations and talent management for the APAC region. 

Before joining R/GA, Lian was head of studio operations, APAC at Hogarth Worldwide. She has also held roles in companies such as Hogarth Worldwide and BBDO.

I look forward to working with our teams to continue leading the evolution of marketing with our socially-led creativity and innovation, bringing the best ideas and solutions to brands,” said Lian to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. 

She added that while her role is based in the Singapore office, she does work closely with the other offices across the We Are Social network, collaborating on projects at a network level.

This comes shortly after it made two senior promotions in its Singapore team, with Nai Yen Wang moving into the role of managing director and Kelson Ong as general manager.

Wang reports to We Are Social’s group chief operating officer, Chris Adamson, and Ong reports to Wang.

Wang, previously head of account management, joined We Are Social in 2022. In her new role she will be responsible for defining and leading We Are Social Singapore’s vision, operational strategy and innovation credentials, while delivering growth and building an inclusive, creative and future-facing culture.

Ong on the other hand was previously business director, having joined We Are Social in 2021 from Netflix. He will now be responsible for overseeing business development and team management at We Are Social Singapore, ensuring the delivery of innovative and effective solutions for clients. Since joining We Are Social, Ong has been part of the leadership team focused on growing its offerings such as gaming and influence as well as bringing in new clients to the business.
