Wavemaker Malaysia’s managing director Michelle Achuthan exits

Managing director Michelle Achuthan (pictured) has left Wavemaker Malaysia after she was appointed to the role in 2017, A+M understands, following the merger of MEC and Maxus in June 2017.

In an exclusive statement to A+M, Achuthan confirmed her exit from the agency, acknowledging GroupM for the opportunity to be the MD of Wavemaker. “I would also like to give a shout out to ‘media people’ for being some of the hardest working, most talented people I have had the pleasure of crossing paths with,” she added.

Rose Huskey, Wavemaker’s CEO, Southeast Asia, told A+M that Achuthan has done a good job and wishes her all the best in her new endeavours. “To facilitate the transition, GroupM Malaysia CEO Chanchal Chakrabarty and myself will assume interim leadership responsibilities,” she added.

Before joining Wavemaker, she was the managing director of BBDO Malaysia for four and a half years and has more than two decades of experience in the advertising industry. During her career, Achuthan has worked with other leading agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi and J. Walter Thompson.
