Watsons HK inspires everyone to go green with refill pack recycling programme
share on
In celebration of World Environment Day on 5 June, Watsons Hong Kong, the flagship health and beauty brand of AS Watson, has launched the “Green rewards month” campaign, featuring a major upgrade to its recycling network.
Running from early June until 1 July, the initiative has introduced a series of eco-friendly measures and exclusive offers across all stores, including rolling out a refill pack recycling programme, according to the release.
As part of the campaign, Watsons is offering double rewards to inspire broader participation in sustainable living. First-time participants of any Watsons recycling programmes will receive a Watsons hand wash refill pack during the campaign period, encouraging everyone to fully embrace a “Go green” lifestyle and contribute to environmental protection.
Participants can also earn additional rewards, such as eStamps or programme-specific incentives, to unlock a series of ongoing benefits. Meanwhile, customers who spend HK$50 or more on refill products will receive a complimentary 12-pack of Watsons mini hankies.

Beyond its rewards scheme, Watsons has collaborated with local environmental social enterprise V Cycle to debut "W·Green ocean fantasy", an eco-art installation crafted from upcycled plastic materials at its Causeway Bay Fortune Centre flagship store. The installation, created using repurposed colourful plastic film, depicts a vibrant school of fish swimming through a surreal underwater landscape.
Through its vivid use of colour, the artwork immerses visitors in a fantastical ocean scene, illustrating the transformative potential of waste into art and celebrating the beauty of sustainable creativity. Customers are invited to take photos with the installation, share them on Instagram tagged @hkwatsons, and receive a limited-edition eco-friendly bag made from recycled plastic.
The campaign also includes a charity sales initiative, HK$3 from each refill pack sold will be donated to V Cycle to support its environmental education and recycling programmes. Additionally, nearly 180 Watsons stores across Hong Kong have set up donation boxes to further aid V Cycle’s efforts, which include employing local elderly waste pickers at recycling depots and promoting community-driven recycling initiatives.
Since launching its recycling efforts in 2015, Watsons has expanded its network with Hong Kong’s first-ever refill pack recycling programme, allowing customers to return empty refill packaging of any brand’s personal care products at nearly 180 stores.
Over the past four years, the brand has collected over 1.7 million empty containers through its recycling programmes. With seven recycling programmes covering items such as personal care and beauty product containers, health supplement packaging, milk powder tins, toothpaste tubes, toothbrush batteries, and newly introduced refill packs, Watsons aims to provide customers with a convenient and comprehensive recycling experience.

On a similar note, Watsons also expanded its partnership with ClimatePartner to enhance its carbon compensation initiative in April. For every purchase of selected Watsons Sustainable Choice products, the brand aims to offset over 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
To meet the growing customer demand for sustainable choices products, Watsons launched its carbon compensation initiative with ClimatePartner in 2023, initially featuring seven product ranges. Now, this effort is expanding to include 30 product ranges, further advancing its commitment to sustainability. The initiative is launched at Watsons O+O (offline plus online) stores throughout Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, and GCC markets.
