[WATCH] Jollibee Christmas TVC honors OFWs

Fast food brand Jollibee pulls heart strings with a stirring account of an overseas Filipino worker returning home for Christmas and a taxi driver who found a home in the arms of strangers – plus the subtle brand promotion on the side.

The 45-second spot titled “Noel” stars Filipino actor and theater icon Nanding Josef, playing the role of a curious taxi driver asking how his OFW passenger missed celebrating Christmas with a family he hasn’t seen for two years. The driver shared the same longing, with a son also working abroad for the last five years.

Taxi rides typically end unceremoniously. But for that night, the driver found a family, even for a brief moment.

Stories about OFWs are tearjerkers, regardless if you have relatives or friends working abroad or not. Filmmaker and TV ad veteran Dragon Pineda directed the film while Publicis Jimenezbasic handled creative duties.
