Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) eradicated several anti-Christian websites acting on complaints from the Christian community. The posts that were removed contained secession statements condemning Sabah and Sarawak because two-thirds of the country’s Christians are from East Malaysia.“We contacted Facebook administrators and several of such fan pages have been removed,” said the chairman of MCMC that was quoted by the Malaysiakini news portal.“Don’t talk about secession. Any movement at cessation is wrong,” said senior Sarawak cabinet minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing. He also said that there should not be any talk of separation which was supported by deputy home minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar with a statement saying people should ‘not cross the line’ when sharing posts on social media. Social media has been a platform where retaliation begins and it needs to be controlled.MCMC is still closely monitoring the Facebook pages.
