Viacom International Media Networks and Telkomsel strike channel deal

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc, has expanded its collaboration with Indonesian telco Telkomsel to launch its Nick Jr. linear channel on the latter’s network in Indonesia. The move marks VIMN’s first linear channel deal with a mobile partner in Indonesia and follows Telkomsel debut of the Nickelodeon Play app in Indonesia last year.

The Preschool linear channel Nick Jr. will offer a range of iconic Nick Jr. animation titles including PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Nella the Princess Knight and Shimmer and Shine, which are designed to engage and encourage early childhood development. Packaging details will be revealed as part of the rollout at a later date.

Mark Whitehead, president and managing director, Asia Pacific, VIMN, said that its offering will not only be extended to Telkomsel’s subscribers, but also to preschool kids and their parents in Indonesia. This is with smart and fun content Indonesian parents can trust.

“The introduction of the Nick Jr. linear channel on Telkomsel is another strong example of Viacom forging deep and innovative partnerships with OTT and mobile distributors such as Telkomsel in Indonesia,” Whitehead added.

“Our subscribers are watching more and more video via mobile and we need to provide compelling content to suit their needs, especially for kids when they are on the move with their families. Adding Nick Jr. to our portfolio will give our subscribers on the go access to Nick Jr.’s educational and entertaining shows, supported by our 4G network,” Crispin Tristram, VP digital lifestyle at Telkomsel, said.
