Google's top searches for Hong Kong this year include Covid-19 “vaccination appointment”, Hong Kong leader John Lee and “Ukraine”.
According to Google's “Year in Search 2022”, “Vaccination appointment”, “compulsory testing” and “iPhone 14” are the top searches of keywords throughout the year. Hong Kong Google users also looked up a lot topics of "pandemic in Hong Kong”, “Leave Home Safe app”, “Covid-19 vaccination lucky draw”, “Omicron” variant, “employment support scheme” and “sixth-round of anti-epidemic fund”.
The top trending news chart was led by "Ukraine" and "Shinzo Abe", followed by local affairs such as "pandemic in Hong Kong," "Mirror concert," and "consumption voucher scheme".
Meanwhile, the most searched individual is Hong Kong chief executive John Lee, who was elected in May this year, followed by skier "Eileen Gu" and Japanese figure skater "Yuzuru Hanyu".
For finance topics, Hong Kong government's “consumption voucher” scheme takes the first spot, followed by “NFT” (non-fungible token), trading platform “OpenSea”, “Green Bond”, cryptos “Luna” and “FTX”.
The top 10 movies HongKongers are paying extra attentions are “The Sparring Partner”, “Warriors of Future”, “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Table for Six”, “Till We Meet Again”, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, “Limbo”, “Mama's Affair”, “Chilli Laugh Story” and “Far Far Away”. All of them are local movies.
Among the top searches of entertainment industry, Hong Kong actor Wilson Lam ranks the first, followed by local singers “Hins Cheung” and “Terrence Lam”. HongKongers are also paying attention to overseas celebrities such as “Johnny Depp”, “Amber Heard” and “Will Smith”.
