Diversity is a huge topic in the beauty and fashion industry, and brands are under pressure to show their support through their marketing.
In a bid to ride the diversity wave, Urban Outfitters hired plus sized model Barbie Ferreira and transgender model Hari Nef for its #UOClassof2017 campaign. This is alongside a slew of models which they deem “fresh faces” that also cover the people of colour demographic.
While initially lauded by social media users for the diversity campaign, media publication Revelist pointed out that Ferreira’s measurements are not within the sizing Urban Outfitters offers. A quick check by Marketing found that to be true.
