After days of speculation on Sing Tao News Corporation's (Sing Tao) executive director and chief executive officer Siu Sai-wo joining TVB, TVB has confirmed the news that Siu will take on the role of general manager (business operations). At the same time,  the company has also promoted Eric Tsang Chi-wai to general manager (content operations).

Siu will start working for TVB from 4 October 2021 onwards. In his new position, Siu will be responsible for overseeing marketing and sales operations across TVB’s various platforms with the objective of increasing cross-platform synergies and effectiveness, as well as directing all internal and external corporate communication activities and formulating TVB's overall brand strategy. He will report to the executive committee consisting of chairman and non-executive director Thomas Hui, non-executive director Li Ruigang, and chief financial officer and company secretary Adrian Mak.

Sing Tao previously issued a statement which confirmed Siu had resigned and he will be leaving the company on 2 October. Siu had decided to devote more time to his personal endeavours. However, according to HK01, Siu is leaving the company to join TVB as management and is expected to take up his new position on 4 October.

Siu confirmed to the board of Sing Tao that he did not have any disagreement with the board, and there were no other matters with respect to his resignation that needs to be brought to the attention of the shareholders of the company or the Stock Exchange. Siu joined Sing Tao in 1999 and became chief executive officer in 2013.

Meanwhile, Eric Tsang has been promoted to the role of general manager (content operations) with immediate effect. He is responsible for TVB's key content operations, including the creation of various types of content, such as non-drama, co-produced drama and music, and the acquisition and curation of programmes. Tsang reports to the executive committee as well. TVB said since Tsang's return to TVB in January this year, he has "successfully reinvigorated the company’s non-drama programmes by broadening content diversity and reestablishing links and cooperation with Hong Kong’s entertainment industry." The company added in a statement, "Tsang’s wealth of experience will continue to strengthen TVB’s core competency in content creation."

The company also said these leadership appointments will help the company execute the ongoing restructuring and resume a growth trajectory more effectively.
