Taylor University and PHD launch Escape Room campaign

Recently, Escape Room collaborated with proPassion Communications to launch an inter-varsity online puzzle competition called #ERrescuemission.

proPassion Communications  is a student consultancy managed by final year students under Taylor’s University bachelor of Mass Communication course, mentored by PHD’s senior professionals. Meanwhile, Escape Room is a puzzle game which puts participants in teams of people in a locked room, where they have to find clues to decipher puzzles and escape within 45 minutes.

The students conceptualised and managed the online campaign, which has since garnered a following on social media.

The Rescue Mission launched with three viral videos, informing varsity students that popular social influencers such as Venice Min, Sharmaine and Khoo Cai Lin have been kidnapped by an abductor, played by popular Youtube star, Ming Yue. Rescue Mission is an online Malaysian intervarsity competition. The campaign hopes to instill university pride to students while embracing the advancement of modern technology.

Viewers were informed to solve puzzles online as instructed by the abductor, in order to help the girls escape.  The campaign has attracted varsity students from a number of established universities and the students are currently chasing for leaderboard positions.

“proPassion is dedicated to bringing fresh and innovative ideas and solutions, as well as quality services to clients. Through this partnership with PHD, we hope the extended services will provide more integrated solutions for clients,” said Josephine Tan, dean of School of Communication.

As part of PHD’s Game Change Academy, PHD aims to provide industry simulation through proPassion projects, which will allow students to access PHD’s proprietary planning tools and understudy PHD’s senior professionals. It will act as a talent incubator to bridge the faculty with real world practices, thus enabling the students to be future-ready for the industry.

“We encourage brands to tap into the creative energy of the youth, especially if they are looking for ideas and platforms to extend their presence with the elusive youth audience. With seasoned professionals providing guidance, brands are assured of meaningful ideas with professional execution,” Jimmy Lim, general manager of PHD Malaysia said.
