StarHub to acquire MyRepublic's mobile business in Singapore

StarHub is set to acquire MyRepublic's mobile business in Singapore, bringing the telco under its wider multi-brand mobile strategy while retaining MyRepublic Mobile as a distinct brand.

Under the deal, MyRepublic Mobile customers will remain on their existing plans and services without disruption. The brand will also continue operating with its existing proposition, while customers gain access to StarHub's nationwide 5G+ network.

The acquisition builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, with MyRepublic Mobile customers already being progressively migrated onto StarHub's network. StarHub said this would provide a foundation for a smoother transition following the acquisition.

The move forms part of StarHub's strategy of operating multiple brands and propositions targeted at different customer segments. According to the telco, the additional scale will also support further investment in its network, service innovation and customer experience.

The deal also extends StarHub's involvement with MyRepublic, which began in 2021 when it invested in MyRepublic's broadband business. StarHub CEO Nikhil Eapen said the mobile acquisition completes a "multi-year journey" that will ultimately give StarHub full ownership of MyRepublic across broadband and mobile.

"With ongoing consolidation, we are bringing greater scale to invest more effectively in the networks, resilience and innovation that Singapore will increasingly depend on," Eapen said.

Meanwhile, StarHub CEO-designate Matt Williams said MyRepublic Mobile was a strong fit with the company's multi-brand and multi-segment strategy, which is intended to serve different customer needs through distinct propositions supported by the same underlying network.

"Different customers want different things from their mobile experience, and our approach allows us to offer distinct brands and propositions while giving more customers access to the strength of StarHub's network," Williams said.

Vaughan Baker, group CEO of MyRepublic, added that continuity would remain a priority for MyRepublic Mobile customers.

"Customers will remain on the same plans and services they have today, without disruption, while continuing to benefit from StarHub's safe, reliable and extensive network," Baker said.

The deal comes as Singapore's telecommunications sector has seen other consolidation efforts play out this year, although not all have made it across the finish line.

In May, the proposed consolidation between M1 and Simba Telecom officially fell through after the parties terminated the sale and purchase agreement tied to Simba's proposed acquisition of shares in M1. Tuas Limited said several conditions precedent had not been met by the long-stop date of 21 May 2026. The agreement, first announced in August 2025, involved Tuas and its subsidiary Simba Telecom, alongside Keppel entities Keppel Konnect and Konnectivity.
