Starcom has appointed Ian Loon as managing director of its Singapore office, as Patricia Goh exits the company after more than eight years with Starcom. Goh spent the last three years as managing director Starcom Singapore.
Goh has been with the agency since 2008 and rose through the ranks with consistent bolstering of multi-disciplinary expertise across verticals. She has been aggressive in new business wins, having back-to-back wins with the most recent ones with Expedia SEA, AIA Asia Pacific Breweries and a string of government businesses like the Ministry of Communications & Information, Ministry of Trade & Industry, Land Transport Authority and the SEA Games.
“I had the pleasure of working with Pat over the past year which has been great. She has the desire and appetite to explore opportunities in the Tech space, I wish her all the best for the future,” Gareth Mulryan, Publicis Media CEO, Singapore said added.
Loon’s will take on the new role 1 March 2017 onwards. He has spent close to 13 collective years with Starcom over various stints. He began his advertising career as an intern during the inception of the agency from Leo Burnett, following the global decoupling of media and creative services back in 2000.
According to a statement from Starcom, he was amongst the agency’s first “digital-at-core” integrated planners who rose over the years to lead the creation and integration of digital capabilities within content, social and programmatic into Starcom offices across the region.
Following the formation of Publicis Media last year, Loon was a global founding member of its business transformation practice which launched NextTECHnow in Singapore last November, the capability that connects solutions offered by start-ups and entrepreneurs to clients across its agency network.
Mulryan said, “I have worked with Ian for the past eight years. He is an innovator, a thought leader, and a person who adds value to our clients’ business every day. When seeking the next leader of Starcom Singapore, Loon was the clear choice. I am very excited to partner with Loon and know he will bring energy and passion to this role, and a pioneering spirit to the Starcom brand.”
“The global culture of the Human Experience company has been embedded in my DNA over many years of working with inspiring leaders and great teams. I’m excited to write this new chapter with the amazing team at Starcom, jointly taking the brand to new heights. Having witnessed the shift in the pace of consumers and business dynamics over the years, all of us must continue to lead and live the transformation of skills & minds,” said Ian Loon, Managing Director of Starcom.
“Starcom is a brand with a legacy of leadership, and as the Human Experience Company, our people are our strength,” adds Lisa Donohue, Global Brand President of Starcom Worldwide. “To further realise our leadership in Singapore, I’m thrilled to have Ian’s rich expertise and passion to further drive our clients’ performance and our own brand presence in the market.”
Mid last year, Jeffrey Seah, Southeast Asia CEO of Starcom Mediavest also left the company following a restructure within the Publicis Media group.
