Spotify and Strava partner up to offer seamless switching experience

Spotify has integrated with physical exercise tracking app Strava to enable users to easily stream music, podcasts, and audiobooks while tracking their workout activities on Strava.
Starting on 12 April, listeners can play, pause, resume, skip, and browse Spotify favorites from the record screen on Strava. This new integration removes the need for Spotify users to switch between apps and allows them to easily tap into the motivation that gets them moving.
“One of our biggest goals at Spotify is to be everywhere our listeners are—whether that’s on a run, in the gym, or anyplace in between,” said Ian Geller, VP of business development at Spotify. “This integration with Strava is another way we’re moving with our listeners and allowing them to seamlessly connect to the music and audio they love.”
Some of those favorites topping user-generated workout playlists include rap artists Drake, 21 Savage, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. As an added bonus, Strava is taking over Spotify’s widely popular Workout playlist starting 20 April.
Apart from striving to provide a seamless experience for users, the initiative also came as the audio streaming platform noticed the consumption of music having evolved dramatically from CDs to streaming, which has opened the door for audio to inspire consumers in ways they couldn’t before, according to Mateo Ortega, Strava’s vice president of connected partnerships.
“We’re excited to partner with a global leader like Spotify to seamlessly integrate music and movement on the platform. This new feature further solidifies Strava’s position at the center of connected fitness and continues to demonstrate the power of the global community of active people on Strava,” Ortega added.

Don't miss: Spotify creates new experience for listeners this Ramadan
Most recently, Spotify has delivered a new experience in light of Ramadan. In addition to curating playlists and podcasts for the holy month, Spotify will be designing an experience on the platform that allows for listeners to take a more active role in discoverability. This year, the streaming platform will be spotlighting content that changes each day, creating personalised playlists with songs picked for listeners, and highlighting trending content that people are listening to in their region.
Moreover, Spotify has also made readings from the Quran easily accessible. Listeners can also find exclusive clips and greetings from their favourite artists and celebrities wishing them a blessed Ramadan. Through this, they can foster more meaningful connections with artists and podcasters whom they enjoy listening to on Spotify.
