Sports platform Appysport closes its doors due to "factors out of our control"

Hong Kong-based sports startup Appysport has announced it is ceasing its operations after running for only a year. The company cited factors out of its control as the cause.
Established in 2019, Appysport claimed to be Hong Kong's first all-in-one sports booking platform. On its official Facebook page, the company commented on the decision saying, "Bigger factors out of our control have pushed us to reconsider our plans. For now this, unfortunately, means that Appysport will no longer be able to bring you on-demand sports booking as we had hoped. And without this service, it wouldn't make sense for us to keep Appysport running anymore."
The company website no longer offers sports programmes but customers with confirmed purchases can still go ahead with their bookings.
Since it soft-launch in March 2019, the platform had amassed more than 6,000 users in less than six months. In September 2019, it partnered with sports retailers Decathlon to launch a pop-up mobile van in Sai Kung, offering discounts on activities and materials.
