MediaCom Indonesia has appointed Soumak Banik (pictured) as MD, replacing Partha Kabi who recently took on the global account director role at MediaCom for SK-II and is now based in Singapore. Banik was most recently chief growth officer, South Asia at MediaCom India and according to the agency, has played "a stellar role" in driving growth initiatives and new business in recent years.
This is a return to Jakarta for him, having previously been principal partner at Mindshare Indonesia for three years until 2019. Banik reports to GroupM Indonesia CEO Himanshu Shekhar and Mark Heap, CEO, MediaCom Asia Pacific.
Banik said he is thrilled to return to Jakarta. "The global momentum in MediaCom is so inspiring. Combining this with the assets we can leverage from GroupM globally, regionally and locally, makes me very confident that we can continue to drive growth for our clients, the careers of our people and our business," he added.
Shekhar said MediaCom Indonesia has been a highly successful agency in recent times under the leadership of Kabi. Kabi’s elevation to a global role is a fitting recognition of his leadership.
"Kabi's successor has big shoes to fill, and I am hugely excited to have Banik as the new leader for MediaCom Indonesia. His infectious enthusiasm and positivity will be crucial in building on the strong foundations," he explained. Shekhar added that Banik is a natural leader and has a proven track record of creative value for its clients, partners, and teams across multiple markets.
Kabi first joined MediaCom as MD in 2017 and was based in Indonesia. He has more than 25 years of experience in advertising, communications and media experience across India and Indonesia with agency networks including, GroupM, IPG and Publicis.
