Singapore unveils first major nation brand refresh in nearly a decade

Singapore is refreshing how it positions itself globally, unveiling its first major nation brand evolution in nearly a decade as it looks to strengthen its standing as a hub for global businesses.

Led by Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, the refreshed Brand Singapore introduces a new identity and positioning under the tagline "When you're ready". The shift aims to move perceptions of Singapore beyond that of a welcoming business hub towards what it describes as a blueprint for companies looking to build, invest and grow globally.

The new brand identity was designed by global brand practice Anak, which reimagines Singapore's familiar "Little Red Dot" through a new graphic device called the "SG sphere". Designed to represent a gravitational force that both radiates outwards and draws others in, the device represents Singapore's role in attracting global partnerships, nurturing innovation and connecting different cultures.

The wider identity also introduces a refreshed tone of voice, typography and motion system. Its "When you're ready" sign-off features a gradient intended to represent a nation in motion, while the typography system pairs Viktor and DM Sans.

Bringing the positioning to life is a year-long campaign developed by independent creative agency The Secret Little Agency (TSLA), also titled "When you're ready".

The campaign takes qualities often associated with Singapore, including safety, functionality and stability, and reframes them as competitive advantages for businesses. Rather than operating as a conventional call-to-action, "When you're ready" is positioned as a challenge to business leaders considering where to build, invest and grow.

At the centre of the campaign is a 60-second brand film showcasing how Singapore's everyday strengths can contribute to larger outcomes. It is supported by contextual out-of-home (OOH) placements across major international business and travel hubs, including Midtown Manhattan, Times Square and JFK International Airport in New York, as well as Canary Wharf and Heathrow Airport in London.

Each OOH execution will be tailored to its environment, while the campaign will also run across YouTube, LinkedIn and display advertising from September to December 2026. A physical activation is also planned in New York City during Climate Week NYC in September.

The campaign will extend into 2027 with a series of microfilms and further physical activations, with more details to be revealed.

The refresh comes as Singapore continues to build its standing as an international business and innovation hub. According to figures cited by Brand Singapore, the country has ranked first for ease of doing business for 15 consecutive years in the Economist Intelligence Unit's Business Environment Rankings, topped the Consumer Technology Association's global innovation ranking in 2025 and ranked first on the 2025 Global Talent Competitiveness Index.

"For a decade, we've told the world what Singapore offers. This time, we wanted to show what it's like once you're already here," said Nicholas Ye and Mavis Neo, co-chief creative officers at The Secret Little Agency.

They added, "A place where the ordinary is done so well that the extraordinary becomes possible. Every touchpoint of this campaign, from the film to where it shows up in the world, was built to demonstrate, not just say it."

According to Hanyi Lee, creative partner at Anak, the sphere was designed to give the nation brand a recognisable yet flexible symbol that could represent Singapore's influence while leaving room for the different stories and people that make up the country.

The campaign has already begun taking shape on the ground. Earlier this week, Singapore brought "When you're ready" to Climate Week NYC with "The Zero Parlour", a renewable ice cream parlour created by MTI and TSLA. Running from 21 to 23 September at Madison Square Park, the activation used ice cream as a starting point for conversations around global climate challenges.

Visitors selected a coloured spoon based on the climate issue they were most interested in before connecting with others who had chosen the same topic. The activation marked the first physical expression of Singapore's refreshed global brand campaign.
