Shell has added four WPP agencies, Wunderman, H+K Strategies, Geometry Global and Mirum on its creative agency roster, following a pitch. The four WPP companies on the global roster will cover strategy and planning, insight-led creative ideation, digital, B2B and trade marketing, shopper marketing, influencer engagement and consumer as well as, B2B PR.
In addition, MediaCom has been re-appointed to continue overseeing all global media planning and buying duties in 40 markets.
Jason Warnes, global client partner at Wunderman, who led the creative pitch for WPP, has been appointed as WPP’s global client lead for Shell to manage the expanded relationship. Mark Read, chief operating officer of WPP explained that Shell was looking for strategic, collaborative partners with a digital-first mindset, adding that it forms a collective ‘Creative Agency of the Future’, underpinned by best-in-class media and data capabilities”.

Earlier this year, Shell called for a global review of its creative and media accounts.The incumbent agencies on the account were WPP’s JWT for creative and MediaCom for media. Marketing understands that the review was handled by pitch consultancy R3 and MediaCom has retained the client.
