Budget airline Scoot is celebrating Singapore’s 61st year of independence by shining a light on everyday community heroes. In collaboration with social service agencies Care Corner and TOUCH Community Services, Scoot hosted 15 dedicated volunteers on a getaway to Nanjing, China, from 30 July to 2 August 2026.
The highlight of the trip was the inflight experience aboard Scoot’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day themed aircraft—a tribute to the unsung heroes who serve their communities daily.
Guests were treated to custom cabin styling with themed decals and headrest covers, ambient music from the Sony Pictures franchise, a special boarding welcome from Spider-Man, and exclusive merchandise. Beyond the flight, the group explored Nanjing’s historic sights through a curated cultural itinerary.
Since 2023, Scoot has sought meaningful ways to celebrate National Day with fellow Singaporeans. From bringing a part of Singapore to Singaporeans living overseas, to bringing family members together on shared trips, these initiatives have connected individuals, families, and now, communities.
Aligned with this year’s National Day theme of “Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!”, rallying citizens to do better for Singapore by showing care and concern for one another and the wider community, Scoot reached out to Care Corner and TOUCH Community Services to identify volunteer profiles who have exemplified selflessness and brought about positive impacts to the lives of others.
As part of the backbone of Singapore’s social safety net, volunteers are the silent heroes whose everyday acts of service embody the spirit of heroism. This group of people juggle multiple commitments in their personal and professional lives and oftentimes forget that they require care and rest as well.
Lau Hui Ling, director, marketing, public relations and loyalty at Scoot, said: "Heroism isn't always found in extraordinary moments; it can also be found in the small acts of kindness that make meaningful differences in our communities. This National Day, we are honoured to give back to the volunteers who have contributed to Singapore by treating them to a well-deserved break."
"Much like Spider-Man, these volunteers serve quietly behind the scenes, often helping others without seeking recognition or reward. Through our National Day initiative this year, we hope to connect with fellow citizens and remind them to appreciate the everyday heroes who have made positive impacts on their lives and the community," Lau added.
Gary Lim, director of partnership and public engagement, Care Corner Singapore, said: "Those who dedicate themselves to caring for others also need rest and time to recharge. This initiative and appreciation trip hosted by Scoot is a meaningful way to recognise the commitment of our volunteers. They have helped us to bring care to every corner in Singapore. Their tireless contribution is deeply valued and appreciated."
James Tan, CEO, TOUCH Community Services, said: “National Day is a meaningful occasion to reflect on the people whose everyday acts of kindness and service help make Singapore stronger. Our volunteers walk alongside individuals and families across the community, inspiring hope and impacting lives through their time, care, and commitment. We are grateful that Scoot recognises their invaluable contributions and hope that this initiative will inspire more Singaporeans to play a part in giving back to the community."
