Samsung Electronics names marketing lead as new president and CEO for SEA

Samsung Electronics has appointed SangChul Lee (pictured) as president and CEO of Southeast Asia and Oceania. He replaces, Yong Sung Jeon, who held the role since February 2015. In his new role, Lee will oversee and lead the company’s business into its next chapter of growth and expansion in the region.

Lee was most recently the head of strategic marketing for Samsung’s mobile communications business, where he led global sales, product strategy, marketing and enterprise business of the mobile business.

According to the company, he has over three decades of experience. He also held several positions across business groups and other functions. According to the company, he will bring strategic leadership in optimising sales and marketing operations and charting the path for growth.

Since joining Samsung in 1984, he has also held executive positions in various markets including Latin America, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Benelux, Italy and Australia, as well as worked across the visual display and digital appliances businesses.
