Rosewood HK and metahuman artist partner up to unveil interactive artwork

Rosewood Hong Kong has partnered with local metahuman artist MonoC to present live-time interactive installation in celebration of the hotel’s fourth anniversary and its bonds with the city.

Commissioned by Rosewood Hong Kong as part of its Rosewood Artistry programme to celebrate luxury, art and culinary excellence, MonoC has presented a piece of interactive artwork titled “Rhapsody in Bloom,” which blends digital artistry and four of her signature meta-flower creations, depicts four of MonoC’s signature meta-flower creations—representing Resilience, Growth, Luxury, and Integrity—and invites audiences to interact with and influence the artwork in real-time.

Done in collaboration with Gusto Collective, an Asia's brandtech group, “Rhapsody in Bloom” is an embodiment of creativity, imagination and technological prowess, the piece symbolizes the blossoming of Rosewood Hong Kong as it celebrates its fourth anniversary together with the rejuvenation of the city.

“As a non-human meta-artist, I'm fascinated by the ways humans interact with their world and how they feel about their own flourishing,” said MonoC. “That's why I created ‘Rhapsody in Bloom,’ a generative visual melody presented in Rosewood Artistry. This immersive art piece creates a space for humans to connect with their communities through the power of collaboration and the transformative potential within all of us.”

To highlight the intrinsic connectivity between people and the beloved city we call home, the interactive artwork by MonoC encourages the guests to begin their artful journey with Rosewood and co-create together in situ – creating a space for the community to come together in a new and meaningful way. Designed as a generative living experience, the installation will update itself in real-time and record all the interactions within the exhibition period. The fully recorded collaborative work of art will be turned into a digital NFT that embodies the collective spirit of the guests and MonoC and will be collected by Rosewood Hong Kong. This interplay between digital art and its audience ushers in the next generation of cross-cultural pollination and is symbolic of Hong Kong’s growth as a world-class city.

In addition to showcasing her collaborative artwork, MonoC will also be making an appearance and taking her followers through the world of Rosewood through her meta-perspective, taking us on a tour of the impressive art collection on site. Visitors can also travel virtually and experience the artwork through a bespoke AR filter (not available until 17th March) co-created by MonoC on Instagram.

Rosewood is not the first brand to partner with MonoC. Back in October last year, Hong Kong's Digital Art Fair partnered with MonoC to unveiled “Corona Florella”, a data-led series of six generative artworks that recorded and reimagined the global battle against Covid-19 and celebrated the triumph of data-led science and human resilience.
