REV Media takes full control of Vocket to strengthen its grip on the Malay digital market

REV Media Group has taken full ownership of lifestyle and culture platform Vocket, tightening its grip on Malaysia’s Malay-language digital space. The publisher previously held a 52% stake in the platform and has now acquired the remaining 48%, bringing Vocket fully under its portfolio.

The move comes at a time when Vocket’s influence has grown significantly. Between 2024 and today, the platform recorded 1.4 million unique readers, 68.5 million monthly pageviews, and more than 758,000 social followers. Its audience is largely male and millennial-driven, with strong traction among those aged 25 to 44, a sweet spot for lifestyle, culture, and fandom-driven content.

Samuel Wee (pictured right), chief executive officer of REV Media Group, said the deal reflects the company’s intention to lead decisively in the country’s digital publishing landscape. He called the acquisition “a testament to REV Media Group’s commitment to pioneering scale, fostering innovation, and cementing our leadership in Malaysia’s dynamic digital media market.”

With full ownership, he added that REV is positioned to “accelerate Vocket’s growth exponentially, and collectively set transformative benchmarks for digital publishing and content.”

For The Vocket, the milestone represents both a turning point and a reaffirmation of its role in shaping lifestyle and culture conversations. Founder Mohd Fazreen Jasni (pictured left) described the moment as “an incredible milestone,” noting that the brand began 11 years ago from a passion for content-sharing. He said the acquisition signals “the beginning of a new chapter” and that Vocket remains committed to delivering bold, resonant ideas for Malaysians across backgrounds.

“This is not just Vocket’s next chapter, it’s the start of a bolder conversation with Malaysia,” he added, while sharing that he will now be taking a step back to focus on personal growth and sporting pursuits.

As a wholly owned brand within REV Media Group’s ecosystem, Vocket is set to benefit from expanded integration across platforms, enhanced cross-channel advertising offerings, and deeper audience-targeting capabilities. REV said this alignment strengthens its position as the go-to partner for brands seeking cultural relevance and large-scale digital reach in Malaysia.

REV Media Group currently manages more than 30 authority brands across Malay, English, and Chinese audiences, reaching over 10 million unique visitors monthly.

Earlier this year, REV Media teamed up with Remix to launch REV Affiliate+, an end-to-end affiliate marketing solution designed to help brands increase customer reach and sales through affiliate marketing in Malaysia. REV Affiliate+ will offer participating brands access to an affiliate network and an ecosystem of publishers to drive traffic and conversions. This can be done on a single data-driven platform.

Two years ago, REV Media acquired the intellectual property (IP) assets of popular Chinese social news portal, Tantannews, from Monster Scape, to strengthen its reach among the Chinese speaking online community. Tantannews' digital presence was set to contribute to the group’s digital business and its media solutions strategy for advertisers.
