Art is all about expression, and this was the case when 43 children displayed their creative talent during an art jamming session held at The Studio at KL, Bangsar South.
The children were invited from the Agathian Shelter, Petaling Jaya and Rainbow Home, Cheras for an initiative drive by PropertyGuru Malaysia through the GuruCares community outreach program.
Aptly themed “My Dream Home”, the children, from the ages of 3-16 years old displayed talent in describing and drawing their dream homes.
Of the 40 art pieces that were created by the children during the art jamming session, 20 art pieces were shortlisted to be auctioned off in an upcoming GuruCares Auction. Property developers and ropertyGuru Malaysia’s corporate clients will have a chance to purchase these art pieces during an auction scheduled to be held on Dec 14, 2015. The proceeds will then go towards supporting The Agathian Shelter and Rainbow Home.
Apart from the art jamming session, the children were also hosted to breakfast and lunch, whilst interacting with the 40 strong team from PropertyGuru Malaysia.
“It’s great that we can start the thought process going for the kids, giving them an aspiration to work for. In this case, to work towards a dream home. Everybody should be given a shot at life,” said Sheldon Fernandez (pictured), country manager, PropertyGuru Malaysia.
“We spend most of our lives and time building our careers and making our mark in the world. It is good therefore to take a time out, to help people, especially the underprivileged. As a father, it saddens me that there are orphans and children who have to grow up without their parents. Issues such as children cancer and underprivileged children are close to our heart,” said Steve Melhuish, CEO & co-founder of PropertyGuru Group.
