Porter Novelli names new APAC president

Public relations agency Porter Novelli (PN) has appointed Angie Schneider as president of PN’s Asia Pacific region effective January 1, 2015.Based in the agency’s Singapore office, Schneider reports to CEO Karen van Bergen. She is tasked to manage talent development, client service and network collaboration, as well as overall growth and profitability of Porter Novelli’s presence in the region.Schneider (pictured) replaces John Orme, senior partner, who will return to the UK after seven years in Asia. He will continue as a senior counselor to top multi-market clients across the agency’s network.Joining the agency in 2000, Schneider served as managing director of Porter Novelli’s Seattle office for seven years before taking on her current position. She was global client relationship leader for several of the agency’s top accounts. She has counseled high-profile executives and served as a crisis and strategy lead for top global brands.Van Bergen said, “Schneider's outstanding talent management, new business and operational skills will be a huge asset as we look to expand our presence in this important and growing region.”“Taking on this new challenge is a thrilling opportunity as the growth potential in the Asia-Pacific region continues,” Schneider said.PN also recently appointed Derrick Koh, former head of communications for Lenovo Asia Pacific, as deputy managing director of Porter Novelli Singapore. In charge of the overall management of the agency’s Singapore operations and its technology practice, Koh will work closely with Schneider on business development, both regionally and locally.
