POP MART debuts new IP 'Merodi After School'

Designer toy brand POP MART has unveiled a new intellectual property (IP) called Merodi After School (放學後的Merodi), featuring a little girl who evolves from a little troublemaker into a small guardian of animals.

According to POP MART’s official WeChat page, the new IP is created by Will (陳威樺), who has been operating Will Studio full-time since 2020 and developed the character Merodi. He focuses on crafting handmade pieces, shaping clay and painting with vibrant colours, which results in unique textures and a distinct handcrafted quality in his work.

Under Will's creation, Merodi is a mischievous little girl who loves playing pranks but often struggles with boundaries. One day, while lost in the fields, she discovers she can understand animal languages. From that moment, Merodi uses her creativity to help her animal friends, gradually transforming from a troublemaker into a guardian. Throughout this enchanting journey, she learns to balance joy and responsibility.

In the first chapter of the IP launch, Merodi embarks on her after-school journey as an energetic little rascal. Every day, her first task is to dash into the woods to play with her animal friends. This quirky girl is full of mischievous ideas, and for her, life is an ongoing adventure. As long as she can cause a little trouble with her friends, each day feels like a surprise waiting to be unboxed.

Available online starting at 10 PM on 26 February and in stores on 27 February, the IP series includes 12 regular figures and 1 hidden figure. The probability of obtaining a regular figure is 1 in 12, while the hidden figure has a probability of 1 in 144.

To promote the IP series, POP MART has released a one-minute video on its YouTube channel and social media pages. The video features Merodi playing with little animals and pulling pranks on them after school, all crafted from clay and hand-painted with vibrant colours.

Back in January, POP MART collaborated with Hong Kong artist Kenny Wong to curate an exhibition that celebrates MOLLY, the designer toy character, on her 20th anniversary.

The "The little galaxy - MOLLY 20th anniversary exhibition” (一顆不變的星週年特展) was held at the Art Pavilion in West Kowloon Cultural District, launching in Hong Kong as the inaugural stop of its world tour and marking MOLLY’s first major retrospective in two decades.
