PMG holds first regional meeting on innovation and sustainability in Manila

Regional integrated marketing communications agency PMG Group held its first regional meeting, covering APAC and Japan, on innovation and sustainability in Manila.

It addressed the conventional wisdom that there is an inherent conflict between the environmental and social aspects on one side and governance on the other when it comes to the environmental, social, and governance equation (ESG). If the cost of “E” cannot be passed on to the end customer, it will have to come out of the business; thus innovative, intelligent, and effective sourcing will provide a competitive edge to the business.

One trend observed during the meeting is that quest for sustainability is already starting to transform the competitive landscape. The key to progress, particularly in a challenging economic environment and unpredictable supply chains is innovation. Enterprises that focus on innovation earlier gain more time to experiment with materials, technologies, and processes.

Also, becoming environmental-friendly does not necessarily mean higher costs. On the contrary, companies can lower costs by switching to operational models that reduce and repurpose. In addition to reducing cost, this may open-up additional value/revenue chains.

The meeting, which also had an expo, brought together partners with aggressive sustainability goals, practitioners, APJ regional perspectives, and the SME supplier base which is going to fuel  PMG’s initiative also known as “Walk the Sustainability Talk.”
