PETRONAS has collaborated with Directors Think Tank and McCann Erickson Malaysia to create a 75-second global film titled “Salvatore’s March”, featuring the life of a lubricant engineer. The brand’s effort for this year focus on the talent, tenacity and will of the Mercedes-Benz Formula One team that PETRONAS sponsors.
The film is part of PETRONAS’ efforts to build presence in the global market and reflects the development process that all PETRONAS products undergo. The video’s protagonist, PETRONAS fluids engineer Salvatore Schembri (pictured), travels to every race and test session throughout the year, helming a lab that learns from each race and perfects the technology behind the lubricants that put the team on top.
“Right from the get go, Rajay Singh and the Directors Think Tank team made incredible strides in ensuring that the production quality was top notch,” McCann Erikson creative director Yeoh Oon Hoong said. Yeoh added that the energy level of Singh and his team was “inspiring to witness”, as they worked to overcome several challenges during the production period. He also noted that the directorial input from Singh took the film to a level of storytelling that is warm, compelling and most of all, a delight to watch.
“I was really impressed the client and agency trusted me enough to try something a little bit different”, Singh said.
