PETRONAS Dagangan (PDB) has collaborated with Telekom Malaysia (TM) to upgrade PETRONAS stations nationwide with the next generation network infrastructure. The upgrade will be carried out by TM through its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE. The partnership also sees PDB extending its SMARTPay services to TM staff, which would allow cashless payments and increased operational efficiencies while lowering annual fuel costs for TM. This digital collaboration follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between PETRONAS and TM in April 2018, where both companies committed to help one another to increase their respective operational excellence and enhance customer experience. Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin, managing director and chief executive officer of PDB said the nationwide upgrade is “necessary” and the new technology will provide PDB with the “capacity and support” it needs to develop more digital-based innovations for its customers. He adds that with the “ultimate aim” to make retail experience at its stations “seamless and frictionless”, with a higher performance, speedier, and reliable network, “the possibilities are limitless”. “Leveraging on TM ONE’s comprehensive digital solutions enabled by high performance connectivity and digital infrastructure, we will be able to fulfill the dynamic sophisticated needs of the oil and gas industry in today’s hyper-connected environment,” said Imri Mokhtar, acting group chief executive officer of TM. “With this collaboration, both companies will be continuously exploring opportunities towards creating better services for our customers, increasing efficiency and leveraging on each other’s strengths to create value and growth particularly in oil and gas industry and Malaysia’s economy,” he added.
