PepsiCo China has appointed Publicis Groupe as its media agency, covering media planning and buying duties for the beverage company's brands.

Starting from 1 April, Publicis Groupe will cover integrated media planning and buying duties across PepsiCo’s beverage and food brands in China, including Pepsi, Mirinda, 7Up, Gatorade, Bubly, Lay's, Quaker, Doritos and Cheetos. The agency added that the win marked Publicis Groupe’s entry into PepsiCo’s roster of agencies in China. Publicis Groupe said they were awarded the three-year contract after winning a competitive pitch.

"We are truly honoured to be appointed as PepsiCo’s media agency in China. This provides us with an incredible opportunity to work with some of the most iconic brands in the industry. Our team is so motivated and excited to apply the best of our thinking and capabilities to create winning momentum for PepsiCo in China," said Jane Lin-Baden, managing partner APAC and CEO North Asia of Publicis Groupe.

In China, Publicis Groupe made senior appointments to strengthen its offerings before. It promoted Liza Zhang to managing director MSL China. Previously general manager of MSL Shanghai and Guangzhou, Zhang will oversee the complete operation of MSL China and lead a team of over 200 consultants based in Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. Publicis Groupe said the appointment will further deepen MSL China's positioning as an integrated communications partner, strengthen cross-regional teamwork, and help clients enhance their business influence. Publicis Groupe said Zhang had worked with a range of clients, including consumer goods, medical and pharmaceutical, high-tech enterprises, and government agencies.

Zhang will continue to be based in Shanghai and report directly to Arto Hampartsoumian, managing partner and executive chairman of Publicis Groupe China, and Margaret Key, CEO - MSL Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa
