Ooredoo, the official Middle East and Africa Telecommunications Operator of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has tied up with football star Neymar Jr. to promote 5G. Known for his love of technology and gaming, Neymar Jr. will help build awareness of 5G’s capability to upgrade people’s worlds in every way. He will work with Ooredoo to promote the benefits of 5G technology and of Ooredoo’s networks to customers across its global footprint.
The partnership with Neymar Jr. is aligned with the Group’s new brand promise to "Upgrade Your World". Ooredoo Group’s tagline stems from its ambition to enable human progress, reflecting the company's commitment to keep improving and never standing still. The communications campaign featuring Neymar Jr. will run across multiple media platforms to promote the many ways in which Ooredoo is upgrading the world of its customers. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Ooredoo for additional information.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al-Thani, deputy group CEO and CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, said that Neymar Jr. makes an ideal face for Ooredoo since he's an inspiration to millions. The company believes that sports unite and have a positive influence on communities, helping to share important messages of collaboration, inclusion and resilience. "With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fast approaching, there is not a better time to communicate the power of our 5G network that will see us provide superfast connectivity services to the global tournament,” he added.
“We are super excited to partner with sporting legend Neymar Jr. who is among the most admired and charismatic sports personalities on the planet. As someone who is constantly reinventing himself, dynamic, confident, and committed to excellence, he fittingly embodies our brand promise to keep upgrading the world of our customers,” Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, Ooredoo Group’s managing director and CEO added.
Neymar Jr. said that this is such an important time for his career in being the face of the partnership. "Everyone knows how much I like technology, games, as well as being connected to my friends and family. I tested Ooredoo's 5G and it's really super because of the low latency that is fundamental for those who play online," he added.
This partnership comes shortly after the footballer was named brand ambassador for Mister Potato. The appointment was made known on the brand's social media channels and a check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE found the announcement on the social media channels for Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Among the other brands Neymar Jr. has worked with include Nike, McDonald's, Red Bull, TCL and Beats by Dre.
