OMG Malaysia partners Google to beef up performance marketing capabilities

Omnicon Media Group (OMG) Malaysia has partnered with Google to enhance the agency's suite of performance marketing capabilities. Through the partnership, OMG Malaysia will gain access to Google’s beta tools, elevate its Google marketing platform expertise, and nurture employees’ skills through a series of curated training programs conducted by Google. According to the agency, this is a strategic move that will foster OMG's Malaysia vision to offer top-notch performance marketing campaigns for its clients.

This move comes after the agency realised that a substantial number of its clients were prioritising their budgets on Google Ads campaigns. With this in mind, the agency decided to shift its focus towards creating customised advanced tools to analyse, optimise and automate the clients' campaigns. With this partnership, OMG Malaysia said that the tools offered by Google would be able to reduce the time spend on analysis and boost optimisation, which could result in a decrease in campaigns turnaround time by up to 30%.

Aside from aiding clients in their digital transformation journey with customised tools, the partnership is also said to focus on developing the skills of the OMG Malaysia team. In fact, it will enable the agency to leverage a curated Google training curriculum to empower new employees with Google-centric skills. A+M has reached out to OMG Malaysia for additional information regarding the partnership.

OMG Malaysia's chief operating officer, Eileen Ooi said the agency was looking forward to growing and shaping the industry. "It is always great to be able to grow and transform with a partner that shares our same ambitions and leans in effectively to make it happen," she added. Ooi also explained that at OMG Malaysia, the agency creates solution to not only address its clients' goals but also to focus on driving a bigger force that pushes boundaries in the way it operates, accelerate campaigns for its clients and address the talent gaps in the industry.

"Our media agency partners continue to be a core component to the digital advertising ecosystem," said Marc Woo, the managing director of Google Malaysia and Frontier Markets. Woo added that Google was pleased with the collaboration with OMG to invest in the key areas of operational efficiencies and nurturing future digital talent. "I am very proud to be on this journey with OMG and together we hope to deliver greater impact to customers' business and marketing objectives,” he added.

Aside from Google, OMG has also globally partnered with Reddit earlier this year to provide the clients of its four agencies (OMD, PHD, Hearts & Science, and Resolution) access to a range of strategic and commercial benefits. As part of the partnership, OMG clients now have access to various resources by Reddit. This includes its creative strategy team, education and training tools, innovation offering (including early ad product and feature testing), measurement and reporting, data, and its "unique insights capability".

Separately in October, luxury fashion house, Chanel shifted its global media account from WPP to OMG after 21 years. In response to A+M, a Chanel spokesperson said that the brand was particularly impressed by OMG's strategic approach, understanding of the brand, and ability to organise around its requirements. "We thank WPP for their valued counsel over the past two decades supporting our growth," Chanel's spokesperson added. Chanel also confirmed that the appointment is effective January 2022.
