OMD taps Deric Wong for expanded China role

OMD has announced the promotion and appointment of Deric Wong to a new position as managing partner of Strategy across OMD China and Hong Kong.

From 1 July, Wong will be charged with raising the level of innovation and strategic thinking for the agencies’ key clients.

Since joining Omnicom Media Group in Hong Kong in 2008, he has established OMD and PHD as Hong Kong’s most awarded media agencies, winning 12 Agency of The Year honours and leading the teams to win over 100 awards including Cannes Lions, EFFIE and Festival of Media Asia.

Personally, Wong was awarded “Outstanding Marketing Professional” by Hong Kong Management Association / TVB Awards in 2012.

Doug Pearce, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Greater China, said he was a logical choice for the role.

“Expanding his responsibility into China will give OMD China clients access to one of the brightest minds in the region, if not our industry,” Pearce said.

“We are delighted he has chosen to take on the challenge.”

Wong will maintain his leadership role in Hong Kong across both OMD and PHD and will focus on building the strategic resource and capacities across both markets. He will report to Arlene Ang and Jackson Kwok, Omnicom Media Group Hong Kong CEO.
