Ogilvy & Mather names new head of technology

Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) has appointed Chandra Barathi as head of technology at Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, and VP of technology for OgilvyOne Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, Barathi (pictured) will report to Chris Riley, group chairman, Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, and Jerry Smith, president, OgilvyOne Asia Pacific.

In the newly created role, Barathi will strengthen O&M’s marketing technology consulting and capabilities helping to deliver high-quality digital technology projects to clients. He will partner with
both internal group companies and best of breed external specialists for clients such as Singtel,
Unilever and IHG, amongst others.

Barathi returns to O&M from Isobar Asia Pacific and prior to that he served as technical director for
locally grown agency The Upper Storey. Before that, Barathi was part of OgilvyOne Singapore’s
technology team from 2001-2005.

Chris Riley, group chairman, Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, said, “Barathi brings with him a wealth of tech and industry knowledge and has consistentlydelivered innovative, high profile projects over the course of his career. The demand for advice from  senior clients around the strategies and deployment of marketing technologies for their business is a vital part of the discussions that we have with our clients today. ”

Jerry Smith, president and CEO of OgilvyOne Asia Pacific said, “Technology plays an important role in modern marketing but too often it is disconnected from the CMO’s office. Businesses want solutions that connect the brand with their customers and enable better experiences. Barathi ’s strength is that he is both left and right brained so he can bring both sides of the equation together.”

Barathi  will also play a key role in building OgilvyOne’s 400+ staff technology hubs in India and Vietnam.
