Netflix has released a limited series in six episodes coming up titled Thai Cave Rescue. According to Netflix, the series will premiere on 22 September 2022, it comprises untold perspectives of the boys on the team who will take centre stage in the new series. The show follows their trip to the Tham Luang caves, that drastically shifts from an adventure into a massive rescue operation.

The series is based on a true story and incident that occurred in 2018 as 12 boys from the youth soccer team, the Wild Boars, and their coach were rescued from a flooded cave or Tham Luang cave in Northern Thailand. There was a red carpet premiere in Bangkok on 20 September 2022

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Netflix for its plans for marketing campaigns.

According to the company, Thai Cave Rescue has been the only title that has had access to the boys and many countless hours went into interviewing them about their story. A lot of the filming also took place at the boys' homes.

Commenting on the series, director, Nattawut “Bas” Poonpiriya said, “It will be the first time that audiences around the world will experience the story of Tham Luang in a new light that reflects the emotions of children. In the team of 12 wild boars, coach Ek and hero "Sergeant Sam" Saman Gunan, each of whom has life stories beyond rescue operations that have never been presented to the public. I am very proud to have the opportunity to tell the story behind the stories of the people we know and know from this world-famous rescue operation.”

"As an American of Thai descent, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to help tell this story through the perspective and spirit of Thai people. I wanted to bring the experience of portraying superhero stories to the real world - such as the cooperation of heroes from all over the world who come together to carry out this mission with the only special power they have. That is the indomitable human spirit and success that is the result of solidarity,” co-director, Kevin Tancharoen added.

"For us, Thai Cave Rescue is a family story and the opinions we have on the word 'family', whether it's the parents of the children themselves or the thousands of local and global rescue teams involved in this mission. Everyone around the world reaches out to help as if we are a family. We wanted the series to tell a story that wasn't limited to rescue operations, but also what the Wild Boars have to deal with during their time in the cave. And we believe that our commitment to bringing this story to life in every way—character, language, location and emotion— to the audiences around the world on Netflix,” scriptwriter, Michael  Russel Gunn explained.
