Nestlé names new independent non-executive director

Nestlé Malaysia has appointed Nirmala Menon as its new independent non-executive director. This followed the retirement of Nestlé Malaysia's independent non-executive directors, Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Hajjah Dr. Aishah Ong and Tan Sri Datuk Yong Poh Kon.Nirmala has had experience in the field of insurance services, including positions such as executive vice president, head of designated markets and health Asia at MetLife Asia Pacific and head of South Asia at ING Asia Pacific. In addition, she made her mark as the first woman chief executive officer in the life insurance industry in Malaysia, helming ING Malaysia as president and CEO. She currently serves as an independent director on the board of Khazanah Nasional.Nirmala will be joining Nestlé Malaysia’s board of directors which comprises of Y.A.M. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, chairman, Alois Hofbauer, chief executive officer, Martin Peter Kruegel, chief financial officer, Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Rafiah Salim, independent non-executive director, Dato’ Mohd Rafik Bin Shah Mohamad, independent non-executive director and Dato’ Frits Van Dijk, independent non-executive director.With her extensive leadership and business management experience in the insurance and health sectors, Nirmala’s appointment to the board will continue to strongly support the company’s purpose of enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future.
